About the Opportunity
A global leader in the chemicals and advanced materials industry is seeking a Senior Project Engineer (Electrical / Automation) to support large-scale capital investment projects at a flagship manufacturing site in Leverkusen.
This role is ideal for an experienced project engineer who thrives in complex industrial environments , values safety above all else , and wants to lead impactful projects from concept through commissioning—while collaborating with international teams and stakeholders.

What You'll Do
In this role, you will take ownership of multiple CapEx projects , ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, and within budget , while complying with all regulatory and internal standards.
Key responsibilities include :
Leading multi-project execution from definition and planning through completion
Preparing investment applications , cost estimates, schedules, and project reports
Ensuring strict compliance with EHS, safety, and internal engineering standards
Translating internal safety requirements into actionable project execution plans
Conducting risk management, gate reviews, value engineering , and documentation
Coordinating with Procurement on contracts and sourcing strategy
Collaborating closely with technical standards, operations, and implementation teams
Providing coverage for the Project Engineering Manager during holidays or absences
Supporting additional project-related initiatives as required
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
Master's degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or Automation Engineering
Several years of experience delivering CapEx projects in a manufacturing or industrial environment
Proven project management capability, including indirect leadership of project teams
Strong analytical skills with a structured, independent working style
Excellent communication skills and professional assertiveness
High level of teamwork and intercultural competence
Proficiency in MS Office and MS Project
Working knowledge of SAP
Business-fluent German (spoken and written)
Fluent English (spoken and written)
Preferred (Nice to Have)
Experience with process engineering and / or electrical investment projects
Basic knowledge of explosion protection and functional safety
Initial people or project leadership experience
