Doktorandenstellen - Nichtlineare Optik
Friedrich Schiller University is a traditional university with a strong research profile rooted in the heart of Germany.
As a university covering all disciplines, it offers a wide range of subjects. Its research is focused on the areas Light Life Liberty.
It is closely networked with non-research institutions, research companies and renowned cultural institutions. With around 18,000 students and more than 8,600 employees, the university plays a major role in shaping Jena’s character as a cosmopolitan and future-oriented city.
The Collaborative Research Center (SFB / CRC) 1375 Nonlinear Optics down to atomic Scales (www.noa.uni-jena.de) was chosen by the German Research Foundation (DFG) in a competitive sci-entific panel and solely based on excellence criteria.
NOA investigates fundamental nonlinear optical processes in nanostructures and low-dimensional systems. In an interdisciplinary approach of physi-cists, chemists and material scientists, we theoretically and experimentally explore quantum phe-nomena of light-matter interaction such as light-induced tunneling of electrons through metallic nanogaps, higher harmonic generation and field-driven carrier acceleration in plasmonic nanostruc-tures, atomic lattices, 2D-materials and quantum materials.
We aim to design new subwavelength-scale materials with tailored nonlinearities at atomic precision, e.g. for optical switching, sensing, quantum conversion and energy conversion.
In its second funding period (2023-2027), the SFB 1375 NOA is offering up to 10 positions is to be filled as soon as possible :
