Job Description
Position Summary
The primary role involves responsibilities related to preparing, testing, installing, operating, monitoring, and maintaining airborne survey sensors.
The position assists the airborne team in planning deployments, and organising the mobilisation of equipment and supplies, as well as post deployment review of activities for improvements.
Provides support in areas such as production, operations and maintenance to surveyors, sensor operators and processors for data acquisition and interpretation.
Executes operations in the field (onshore and offshore, e.g. on aircraft and / or vessels and other in situ testing).
Operates, maintains, and supports Fugro’s aerial sensors and supporting equipment. Ensures that components are operational to conduct acquisition in accordance with the project deliverable and applicable regulations.
The position will also include providing technical support to Fugro’s vessel operations as and when required.
Position Requirements
Background in electronics, with airborne systems a considerable advantage.
Be familiar with computer managed flight navigation systems, Lidar sensors, or digital cameras.
Understand geographical mapping concepts such as coordinate systems and datum.
Have a fundamental knowledge of computer operations and the aptitude to operate high-tech sensors during flight.
Experience with maintaining, repairing, and deploying field sensors.
Transfer knowledge through training airborne operators on the use of sensors.
Be willing to travel on occasion, with minimal notice
Have the ability to make independent decisions in an environment with little or no direct supervision.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite of software and PC based computers
Possess a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel internationally (ability to acquire passport or visa).
Other Relevant / Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Experience with aviation installations, certifications, and approval process
Experience with reviewing aerial survey data for quality control.
Experience working with sensor manufactures to troubleshoot or diagnose equipment.

Position Duties / Work Responsibilities
Perform preventative and reparative maintenance on all sensors, maintain awareness of sensor equipment problems.
Receive details of the project requirements from Project Manager(s) and ensure that relevant equipment is allocated for the project.
Obtain approval for acquisition of new sensor equipment, replacement of existing equipment, or new aircraft installations.
Bench test equipment prior to mobilisation to ensure sensors are functional.
Mobilise and install relevant sensors and equipment in survey aircraft for operations.
Completes both pre- and post- deployment checklists
Perform sensor calibrations to ensure sensors are performing to within client specifications.
Where calibration results or tests indicate a significant problem, assess the impact and take appropriate action.
Monitor sensor equipment performance and be proactive to foresee and prevent sensor problems.
Coordinate with Operators and Data Processors to support feedback look in monitoring equipment health and support.
Rectifies faults IAW actions identified in Equipment Fault Report procedures
Maintains accurate and adequate levels of spares.
When not in use, store sensor equipment in safe area to avoid inadvertent damage.
May be required to serve as an airborne sensor operator as required.
Update BMS procedures on aerial sensor mobilisation and operation activities as required.
Other Job Duties
Remain current on changes within the industry through publications, periodicals, technical meeting and conference attendance, and continuing education.
Project a professional appearance and cooperative attitude, maintain high ethical standards of confidentiality in representing the company to ensure a professional representation at all times.
Comply with the requirements of the company’s documented quality system.
Assume other activities, duties, and responsibilities as needed.
