Professor (Open Rank W2, tenure track or W3) for Algorithms and Complexity (m/f/d)
the Institute of Computer Science at the Faculty of Computer Science and Mathematics. This civil servant or public employee position will start as soon as possible.
Depending on qualifications and experience, the appointment is made to a professor W2 with tenure-track or a professor W3.
In case of the appointment of a professor (W2 with tenure-track) this is a tenure-track position for an initial six-year term.
If tenure is approved at the end of the term, the position will be made permanent and promotion to the rank of Distinguished Professor (W3) will be granted.
The formal hiring requirements are defined in sections 67, and 68 of the Hessian Higher Education Act (Hessisches Hochschulgesetz).
We are looking for a person who complements the existing focus on theoretical computer science and offers opportunities for cooperation in this field.
The professional profile should be proven by relevant high-ranking publications in theoretical computer science / algorithm engineering.
Research directions sought include, but are not limited to, the following areas : Scalable algorithms and data structuresModern complexity theoryTheoretical foundations of machine learningExperience in acquiring third-party funding is expected, as is a willingness to collaborate with existing working groups in the department.
The professorship should ideally play an active role in strengthening interdisciplinary research and teaching between mathematics and computer science, as well as within the university's profile area Space, Time & Matter (https : / / tinygu.
de / UZLww). Additional cooperation opportunities for joint research / third-party funded projects arise in the context of the new professorships at the Centre for Critical Computational Studies (C3S) (https : / / www.
c3s-frankfurt.de / ) and as part of the strategic alliance of Rhine-Main Universities (RMU). Furthermore, the professorship is expected to contribute to teaching within the computer science programs, particularly at the undergraduate level.
