Master Thesis in Simulation and Testing of Refrigerant Separator
Company Description At Bosch, we shape the future by inventing high-quality technologies and services that spark enthusiasm and enrich people’s lives.
Our promise to our associates is rock-solid : we grow together, we enjoy our work, and we inspire each other. Join in and feel the difference.
The Robert Bosch GmbH is looking forward to your application!*Job Description*Many improvement measures exist in a refrigerant circuit that can enhance the coefficient of performance, such as vapor injection, multi-stage compression or liquid fed evaporators.
Some of these measures require a component in the refrigerant system that separates a two-phase (vapor-liquid) mixture into pure vapor and pure liquid.
This component is called a liquid-gas-separator (LGS).The structures within the LGS direct the flow, causing liquid droplets to collect at the bottom for extraction, while vapor is drawn out from the top, maintaining a constant liquid level within the LGS.
In vehicle applications, the primary requirement for the design of LGS is to minimize its size while maintaining a high level of separation efficiency.
- During your assignment, you will develop the simulation workflow to simulate the two-phase flow within the LGS.* You will design the experimental setup to validate the observations in the simulations.
- Furthermore, you will conduct and evaluate measurements and interpret the results.* Last but not least, you will compare the simulation and experimental results.
- Qualifications *Education : *master studies in the field of Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Process Engineering, Automotive Engineering or comparable* *Experience and Knowledge : * with numerical simulations (e.
g. CFD, FEM, ...) and measurements* *Personality and Working Practice : *high motivation for practical work and curiosity* *Languages : * good in German or English*Additional Information Start : *according to prior agreement*Duration : *6 monthsRequirement for this thesis is the enrollment at university.
