Hauptaufgaben

* Manages the regional safety and occupational health program as the sole specialist across designated ports and terminals throughout Germany, Scandinavia, Poland, and the Baltic States.

* Oversees the safe handling, transport, and storage of hazardous cargo, including explosives, ammunition, chemicals, and radioactive materials, in compliance with international, military, and host-nation regulations.

* Conducts regular safety inspections and risk assessments for all port operations to detect hazards, enforce compliance, and eliminate unsafe work practices.

* Investigates workplace accidents and analyzes safety data to identify trends, write incident reports, and establish corrective measures to prevent future hazards.

* Performs formal Job Hazard Analyses and risk assessments for every scheduled port operation to ensure on-site compliance, especially during high-intensity operations.

* Maintains continuous liaison with external safety authorities, including local port officials, civilian fire departments, and the German Water Police, to coordinate emergency procedures and resolve safety issues.

* Develops and delivers safety training and promotional materials to advise personnel on accident prevention, regulatory updates, and safety standards.

Qualifikationsanforderungen

Position may be filled at the C-06, C-6A, C-07, or at the full performance level, C-7A. Incumbent may be non-competitively promoted to the next higher or full performance level in accordance with regulatory requirements, upon completion of required training, and recommendation of supervisor.

C-6:
MINIMUM Realschule PLUS a completed apprenticeship in a commercial, business or administrative occupation, e.g., Industriekaufmann/frau, Kaufmann/frau im Gross- und Einzelhandel, oder in steuer- und wirtschaftsberatenden Berufen, Rechtsanwaltkanzleien, Banken oder Arztpraxen, or in a related technical trade, or similar occupation, PLUS 2 years of job related experience as defined below.

C-6A:
MINIMUM Realschule PLUS a completed apprenticeship in a commercial, business or administrative occupation, e.g., Industriekaufmann/frau, Kaufmann/frau im Gross- und Einzelhandel, oder in steuer- und wirtschaftsberatenden Berufen, Rechtsanwaltkanzleien, Banken oder Arztpraxen, or in a related technical trade, or similar occupation, PLUS 3 years of job related experience as defined below.

C-7:
MINIMUM Realschule PLUS a completed apprenticeship in a commercial, business or administrative occupation, e.g., Industriekaufmann/frau, Kaufmann/frau im Gross- und Einzelhandel, oder in steuer- und wirtschaftsberatenden Berufen, Rechtsanwaltkanzleien, Banken oder Arztpraxen, or in a related technical trade, or similar occupation, PLUS 4 years of job related experience as defined below.

C-7A:
MINIMUM Realschule PLUS a completed apprenticeship in a commercial, business or administrative occupation, e.g., Industriekaufmann/frau, Kaufmann/frau im Gross- und Einzelhandel, oder in steuer- und wirtschaftsberatenden Berufen, Rechtsanwaltkanzleien, Banken oder Arztpraxen, or in a related technical trade, or similar occupation, PLUS 5 years of job related experience as defined below.


BASIC REQUIREMENT: Incumbent of the position must be certified as a safety professional in accordance with paragraph 7 of the Arbeitssicherheitsgesetz (AsiG) PLUS the below listed minimum education and experience requirements. Incumbent of the position must be able to complete regular, mandatory training as directed.

Job Related Experience: Experience gained in a professional, technical or supervisory position requiring knowledge, application, and enforcement of the principles and techniques of accident prevention, accident investigation, industrial engineering, fire prevention, and inspection of workplaces and activities. The experience must have provided knowledge of safety and occupational health principles, especially in facility safety, practices, procedures and standards applicable to a range of administrative duties.

Beschäftigungsbedingungen

* Office automation skills required.
* Applicant must be in the possession of a valid driver's license class B and must be able to obtain/maintain a military motor vehicle operator's license.
* Must be able to obtain and maintain certificate as Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor (Gefahrgutbeauftragter)
* Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) required, 25%.
* Work requires irregular work hours, including night, weekend, and holiday when loading/unloading vessels and/or modes of inland transportation. It requires incumbent to work indoors and outdoors during inclement weather.
* English Language Proficiency Level B2 and German Language Proficiency Level B2 required.
