The position is a W2 fixed-term (6 year) tenure-track professorship with the possibility for promotion to a tenured W3.Scientific EnvironmentThe professorship will be assigned to the Department of Aerospace and Geodesy at the TUM School of Engineering and Design.ResponsibilitiesThe responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of Test and Qualification of Aerospace Technologies with a focus on interdisciplinary and application-oriented research to advance testing methodologies and qualification strategies in aerospace, e.g. the investigation of structural, thermal, electromagnetic, acoustic, and aerodynamic behavior of systems, as well as lifecycle and failure analyses. A further focus lies on the development and application of innovative testing methodologies, the qualification of materials, components, and systems, and the simulation of relevant environments to ensure reliability, safety, and performance. Teaching responsibilities include courses in the university's bachelor and master programs.QualificationsWe are looking for candidates who have demonstrated initial scientific achievements and the capacity for independent research at the highest international level. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification, as well as pedagogical aptitude, are prerequisites.
