The Job :
Building and nurturing relationships with brokers, clients, and stakeholders will be your priority, promoting retention and driving business growth.
You will be at the forefront of assessing risks and shaping insurance policies for marine cargo transportation, and play a pivotal role in solidifying the company's presence in the European market.
The job involves working 3 days a week from an office in Hamburg and 2 days from home.
Responsibilities include :
- Negotiating with brokers to settle on appropriate coverage levels and pricing guaranteeing accurate execution of the company's guidelines and compliance
- Evaluate applications for marine cargo insurance coverage, assessing risks and determining appropriate terms and conditions
- Manage policy renewals by reviewing current coverage, updating terms as necessary, and ensuring timely renewal processes
- Build and maintain relationships with brokers, clients, and other stakeholders to promote retention and business growth
- Ensure the correct articulation of new business with the Risk Management area
- Attend all meetings with brokers, reinsurers and all stakeholders in regards to the company's and Europe market requests
- Represent the company at industry conferences and events.
About You :
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field
- 4 -6 years of experience in underwriting or a related role
- Prior experience in marine cargo underwriting or related insurance field
- Working knowledge of underwriting guidelines and best practices
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex risks and make sound underwriting decisions
- Attention to detail
- Problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Ability to work under pressure
- Availability to travel within Europe and the US
Additional desirable skills & attributes :
- Experience with compliance sign-off for facilities and master policies
- Comfortable reviewing and amending wording, and, when necessary, writing new clauses
- Bring in existing broker relationships that are new to the company
- Experience in other classes of business that can expand the company's breadth of offerings to the market
