To advance defossilization efforts and promote the establishment of green energy supply, it is crucial to provide sustainable energy carriers and base chemicals.

This requires the development of robust, efficient, and cost-effective catalysts for essential technologies like electrochemical water splitting and carbon dioxide reduction.

The objective of this thesis is to use a combination of mechanochemical and thermal methods to synthesize new electrocatalyst materials based on metal chalcogenides.

These catalysts will be applied in electrolysis, with a specific focus on CO2 electroreduction and water electrolysis.

What you will do

• Synthesis & characterisation of heterogeneous electrocatalysts
• Electrode preparation : integration of the prepared catalysts into electrode systems
• Planning and execution of experiments on CO2 electroreduction and water electrolysis
• Preparation and presentation of research results

What you bring to the table

• Ongoing studies in chemistry or related studies with completed Bachelor's degree
• Experience in synthesizing and characterizing inorganic solid state materials
• A solid foundational understanding of electrochemistry
• Structured, independent working style, creativity, flexibility and ability to work in a team
• Experience in scientific research
• Very good English language skills

The weekly working time is 39 hours. This position is limited to 9 months.
