Are you ready to make a significant impact as a Director (f / m / d) of Operations ? Join Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., a world-class manufacturing company, as we strive to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer.
We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to oversee the overall operations responsibility for our Regensburg, Geneart site in Germany.
This includes responsibility for the functions of Operations, Manufacturing Sciences, Health Safety & Environment, Facilities, Quality, Planning, Procurement, PPI (Practical Process Improvement).
The Director will work very closely with various businesses to support their strategic business initiatives.
A Day in the Life
- Effectively manage production to meet and exceed targeted goals for labor, material, and overhead costs
- Develop and lead an operational strategy aligned with company and business goals
- Plan and direct operational activities to achieve shorter-term business targets in quality, delivery, and cost
- Create a long-term vision and plan, communicating it effectively to ensure staff alignment
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, championing the implementation of PPI (Practical Process Improvement)
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with customers, suppliers, partners, and regulatory bodies
- Actively manage internal and external communications, promoting transparency and collaboration
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams globally to drive operational efficiency
- Provide strong leadership, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment
- Communicate site performance to relevant individuals within the company
- Ensure site health, safety, regulatory, and environmental compliance
Keys to Success
- Master's degree in a relevant field and / or equivalent experience (MBA preferred)
- 7+ years of progressive manufacturing operations management experience, including supply chain, production, and logistics
- Demonstrated results with direct and indirect reporting relationships in a matrixed environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience working in global and matrix organizations
- Strong leadership, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop successful teams
- Collaborative skills to work alongside and effectively influence important individuals
- Ability to work independently on multiple complex projects
- Practical experience in continuous improvement leadership / methodologies to drive productivity
- Lean and / or Six-Sigma experience is valuable
- Understanding of Molecular Biology is preferable
- Experience within a cGMP environment is valuable
- Proficiency in German language is a preference
