The Head of Market Financial Reporting is a key role within the Market Financial Controlling & Operations department. The team operates within the End-to-End Accounting & Reporting framework of VF Group, serving as a key decision-making authority for strategic accounting judgements and as a nexus for compliance assurance on group level for Vodafone's local markets.

Role holder holds ultimate accountability for timely and accurate financial reporting of all in-scope markets.

Within this, the Chief Accountant leads the Local Chief Accountant team, which is part of Lean Corporate Services (LCS). The Chief Accountant organization plays a crucial role in ensuring financial integrity and compliance with policies and regulations across the Vodafone markets.

While the Vodafone Group Internal Accounting Policies ( VGIAP ) are furnishing the general guidance on IFRS accounting treatment, the Local Chief Accountant team acts as a crucial intermediary layer between the operational accounting teams, group financial reporting and local markets, fortifying a centralised second line of defense, ensuring holistic application of accounting and reporting standards.

By overseeing and certifying the markets financial submissions, the team serves as an agent on safeguarding the compliance of the statutory financial reporting under both IFRS and Local GAAP.

What you will do

• Accountable for timely and accurate financial reporting in SAP and HFM for all in scope markets (including Germany and Vodafone’s subsidiaries in Europe)
• Supporting Group Financial Reporting through ensuring timely submission of the monthly, quarterly and year results
• Supports and shares insights with peer Teams to drive the R2R evolution and standardization
• Safeguards the accurate and consistent application of group financial reporting policies and respective reporting instructions
• Aggregates and provides relevant, accurate and timely financial and reporting information to the Director Group Financial Controlling & Operations
• Ensures effective alignment with CSO and markets and be a role-model in collaborating with the wider Finance community and influence all relevant Vodafone internal and external key stakeholders
• Enforces a robust framework for gaining frequent transparency on all risks, contingencies or opportunities to financial statements.

Provides this as critical inputs to Group Financial Reporting and additional key finance stakeholders.

• Creates a culture of proactive continuous improvement of processes, systems and people and provide a platform for the people to develop their career and employability
• Develops robust pool of talents and progresses these into leadership roles

• Deep technical financial accounting and reporting skills
• Strong understanding and track record of how commercial transactions are translated into financial statements

• Chartered Accountant (or equivalent)
• University graduate, preferably from Finance and Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, etc.
• 15+ years experience in finance, in-particular in all areas of finance operations either by practical delivery or through oversight
• Broad telecommunications industry experience
• Very strong cooperation, coordination, communication and presentation skills
• Analytical-minded, innovative, adaptable, team player and leader with broad experience and understanding of performance management
