Huawei's Munich Research Center is responsible for advanced technology research, architectural development, design and strategic engineering of our products.
Within MRC, the Advanced Wireless Technologies Lab ( AWTL ) focuses on technologies development, experimentation and standardization for next generation mobile communication systems.
In particular, AWTL Network Architecture team has been involved in the development of enabling technologies and architectural solutions for the upcoming IMT-2030 standards, focusing on AI native multi-functional 6G systems, featuring communication, computing, sensing, and cognitive capabilities, for an efficient and sustainable support of vertical digital services.
Digital services include civil or industrial intelligent robotic applications; augmented and virtual reality services, e.
g. for e-health, remote learning or gaming applications. In this context, recent developments in the field of Artificial Intelligence, and in particular of Generative AI, highlight a promising way forward to be explored, towards distributed intelligence autonomous systems, optimizing energy and resource consumption, and minimizing human intervention for system management and control.

Your mission
- Develop research questions aimed at investigating both evolutionary and revolutionary methods for constructing network architectures that enhance high performance, energy efficiency, and resource efficiency in autonomous systems
- Conceive and design distributed intelligence architecture towards 6G and B6G standards, utilizing progress in artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI / ML)
- Conceive and design innovative core network technologies, original algorithms, and novel AI-native architectural solutions for automating multi-functional 6G and B6G systems
- Evaluate the performance of designed technologies, algorithms, and architectural solutions by developing simulation tools or experimental platforms, producing quantitative research results that demonstrate the superiority of proposed solutions
- Disseminate research results to a broad industrial and academic audience through the publication of papers in international conferences and journals, as well as through organizing and participating in workshops, tutorials, and special sessions
- Contribute to the generation of intellectual property by co-authoring patent applications
- Participate in the preparation of project proposals, particularly within the Horizon Europe framework, and contribute to the execution of funded projects
Your areas of expertise
- Master’s or equivalent in telecommunication, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering
- Strong knowledge of AI / ML methodologies and algorithms, knowledge of Generative AI and Large Models would be a plus
- Good knowledge of AI / ML application to communication systems
- Good knowledge of 5G communication system architecture, knowledge 3GPP standards would be a plus
- Good knowledge of network automation objectives and principles
- Proficient programming skill in at least one of the following programming languages : C++, Java, Python
- Proficiency with at least one numeric computing environment e.g. MATLAB, R
- Excellent knowledge of English in communication and writing
