Open-Source Research Project Manager

Supported by over 350 members globally, the Foundation has an established international reach and reputation. The Role The Eclipse Foundation is hiring a research project manager to support its participation in research projects in different technical domains such as IoT, Cloud computing, AI, and Dataspaces.
Reporting to the Research Relations Director, the candidate will work with the research team and the different program managers to contribute to a range of European research projects involved in creating and growing open source research communities in the aforementioned domains.
The aim is to support research projects by facilitating their dissemination and exploitation within the open-source communities, and by encouraging communities to work together on these projects.
Ensuring a robust connection between research projects and associated Eclipse communities is crucial, alongside leveraging relevant Eclipse open source technologies.
The project manager will contribute to the execution of the tasks and work packages under the responsibility of the Eclipse Foundation, as well as promote the vision of the organization in strategic research agendas and similar forward-looking documents.
Regular travel will be required to represent the Foundation at meetings or public events. Responsibilities The project manager will be responsible for several aspects of participation in research projects.
Contribute to the activities of the Eclipse Foundation to support the European research ecosystem. Initiate and organize dissemination and community building activities for the projects, leveraging existing Eclipse Foundation initiatives and assets.
Collaboration in project proposals and content delivery. Facilitate events, workshops, hackathons, and conferences for community building.
Represent the Eclipse Foundation at meetings and reviews. Encourage synergies among the EU projects and Eclipse Foundation members.
Qualifications Required Minimum of 5 years experience in EU Research project programes (Horizon Europe, Horizon2020, etc.
Experience in writing EU project proposals, especially on topics such as impact creation, innovation management, exploitation.
Good understanding in Dataspace, IoT, and Cloud Computing challenges and technologies Work experience in a relevant field (research, project management, community building, technical writing, software development).
Ability to organize contributions from a diverse and distributed team and community. Strong team player, self-starter and able to work independently.
Fluent in English (spoken and written). Preferred Knowledge of the Eclipse Foundation ecosystem. Experience with open source software community development and collaboration models.
Experience in the development of market analysis and business plans. Knowledge on Web-based communications including website content management, Social Media management (MailChimp, X (ex-Twitter), LinkedIn).
Fluency in German or French would be an asset. Experience working remotely 100%. Education University degree (master or better) or Engineer or Technical degree with an experience in Research & Development.
Location of Position This is a remote position, and the selected candidate will be expected to work from their home office.
