What you will do

In the field of quantum sensor technology, the institute is pursuing globally unique approaches to new magnetic field sensors based on the quantum mechanical system of nitrogen vacancy (NV) centers in diamond.

This will open up new possibilities in the investigation of material materials and microelectronics. On the basis of these advances, we offer interesting research topics :

  • Measurements on laser-based magnetic field quantum sensors with NV centers in diamond.
  • Characterization of new metallic materials.
  • Investigation of microelectronic circuits using NV scanning probe magnetometry.
  • Development of new measurement methods based on scanning probe magnetometry.

What you bring to the table

  • You are an enrolled student in the field of physics or a comparable discipline
  • Interest in challenging scientific content from experiment and theory
  • Interest in (ideally previous experience in) experimental laboratory work in optics / photonics, scanning probe microscopy (STM / AFM) or with NV centers
  • Good programming skills, ideally in Python
  • Good basics in the field of optics, lasers and quantum physics are helpful
  • Good written and spoken English
  • Enjoyment of scientific work
  • Ability to work in a team, openness and motivation to work independently, purposefully

The weekly working time is 39 hours. This position is also available on a part-time basis.
