Associate Corporate Counsel, AWS EMEA
Amazon’s Legal Department is looking for a talented data protection / IT lawyer to support Amazon Web Services (AWS) in selling to commercial and public sector customers throughout the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region, with a primary focus on supporting AWS sales in Germany and central Europe.
AWS is at the forefront of the cloud computing industry, providing IT infrastructure services, such as on-demand compute capacity, storage, content delivery, database services, and more to private and public sector customers.
Key job responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for drafting, negotiating and advising on strategic technology service agreements with enterprise customers, public sector customers and partners, as well as providing legal support for local and regional services and initiatives.
The role will also involve ongoing legal counsel and regulatory interpretation and guidance for senior executives and other business and legal team members on a variety of product development, operational, security, compliance, data protection and public policy matters.
The role includes participating in other legal team projects, including managing legal issues that arise in existing relationships and handling customer and business partner inquiries.
The successful candidate will be proactive, entrepreneurial, enjoy being challenged, have strong written and oral communication skills, and demonstrate sound, pragmatic judgment in ambiguous situations.
The role can be based in Amazon's offices in, Munich or Berlin. Some travel will be required.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Qualified and admitted to practice law in Germany.
- Minimum 2+ years of legal experience following qualification.
- Previous work experience in a law firm, government, or in-house at a technology company.
- Transactional experience, including drafting and negotiating commercial contracts Professional fluency in English and German, written and spoken.
- Excellent communication, drafting and negotiation skills.
- The successful candidate must be enthusiastic, fast learning, self-motivated, enjoy working hard and being challenged, able to work independently and at times with little supervision, and demonstrate sound judgment in challenging and ambiguous situations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Familiarity with cloud computing, IT infrastructure and telecommunications.
- Experience with IT transactions, including technology licensing agreements
- Fluency in any additional European languages.
- Experience engaging with government contracting officials, system integrators, prime contractors, subcontractors, and resellers.
- Knowledge of procurement processes and contracting laws, rules, and regulations applicable to the German public sector.
