HVDC is a backbone technology for a sustainable future, it utilizes converters to efficiently transmit power from large offshore wind parks to the onshore electrical grid.
We are looking for people who are excited to learn about HVDC technology, IEC61850 communication and special Automation Systems, and who wish to become part of our team and make a real difference to the global energy transition.
As an Associate Control Engineer on an HVDC project, your role involves configuring the IEC61850 communication interface between the central control system and various systems like switching devices and HMI (human-machine interface), all linked via a single IEC61850 network.
You'll also handle the configuration of specialized Automation Systems, use PC-based tools for interface configuration, load configurations onto lab target hardware, and conduct hardware-in-the-loop tests to ensure performance.
Your will often in the lab, collaborating closely with the control hardware and other team members across multiple HVDC projects.
This position offers a chance to engage in HVDC system development, working as a part of project team that includes other control engineers and specialists in areas like Human-Machine Interface (HMI), switchyard control, and real-time simulation.
You'll actively contribute to shaping the new electrical grid for a sustainable future. How You’ll Make an Impact
- Be responsible for the configuration of the IEC61850 communication interface for the HVDC control system
- Take charge of configuring the special Automation System used in our HVDC solution
- Install required software in lab setups, for configuration and debugging
- Maintain the interface definitions and Automation System configuration files in a structured way
- Work on multiple HVDC projects with a close-knit team on a successful project development
- Validate the correct functionality in a hardware environment and offer support to others in your team
What You Bring
- Apprenticeship (German : Ausbildung) in electrical systems, mechatronics, interface engineering, automation or similar
- Eagerness to work in a team, to learn, and to contribute to the energy transition
- Precise and organized working style
- Ability to deal with complex technical systems
- Experience in the configuration of automation systems is an advantage
- Strong English skills, German proficiency is beneficial
