Details of the role and how it fits into the team
Group Strategic Analytics (GSA) concentrates Deutsche Bank's quantitative and modelling expertise within a single unit. With group-wide responsibility for model development GSA takes a cross-business and cross-functional approach to solving quantitative modelling and analytics challenges and rolls out common development standards.
Within GSA market risk methodology is responsible for the research, implementation, testing, calibration, and documentation of the Group's market risk management models. Work includes :
- Development of new market risk models
- Creation of detailed methodology analysis and documentation
- Testing of model components to ensure intended performance and appropriateness for business purpose
- On-going reviews of model performance, including research into data quality, market data and mapping rules. GSA role holders either code developed model algorithms themselves or specify the functional requirements for a third party to implement
Your key responsibilities
- Management of large-scale project work streams (cross-divisionally / on an international scale) in line with assigned tasks to improve risk capture and understanding of different business areas
- Development, enhancement, implementation, and documentation of highly complex quantitative models
- Enhancement and implementation of processes changes to capture market and earning risk in cooperation with the asset class teams and business
- Independent handling of internal audit and validation requests, support in dealing with external audit / regulations requests within assigned tasks
- Creation and maintenance of strong relationships within the team as well as stakeholders across the bank
Your skills and experiences
- At least 5 years of experience in quantitative model development with focus on financial markets and practical experience with market risk modelling (experience with traded and / or non-traded market risk or treasury (IRRBB) risk modelling are considered an advantage)
- Extensive analytical skills including proficiency in statistics, financial mathematics, and derivative pricing (level corresponding to university degree Master or PhD in Quantitative Economics, Mathematics or comparable expected)
- Hands-on model implementation experience, ideally in Python or C++, as well as deployment of mathematical or statistical packages
- Ability to work independently and flexibly within intra or inter-departmental groups combined with ability to lead, manage and influence stakeholders / teams across different functions on large scale projects
- Excellent writing and communication skills (English)
