Position Overview :
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Supply Chain Director to lead and manage the end-to-end supply chain operations for our automotive Tier One supplier business in Germany.
The successful candidate will be responsible for optimizing supply chain processes, ensuring seamless logistics, managing supplier relationships, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to meet the demands of our automotive clients.
This is a critical leadership role that requires a deep understanding of the automotive industry, strong strategic planning abilities, and excellent people management skills.
Key Responsibilities :
- Strategic Supply Chain Management : Develop and implement comprehensive supply chain strategies that align with the company’s overall business objectives and the specific needs of the automotive industry.
- Operations Oversight : Lead and oversee all aspects of the supply chain, including procurement, production planning, inventory management, logistics, and distribution.
Ensure on-time delivery of materials and finished goods to meet customer requirements.
- Supplier Management : Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, negotiate contracts, and manage supplier performance to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and reliability.
- Team Leadership : Manage and mentor a team of supply chain professionals, fostering a culture of high performance, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Provide guidance and support in problem-solving and decision-making.
Continuous Improvement : Identify opportunities to streamline processes, reduce costs, and improve efficiencies across the supply chain.
Lead initiatives in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
Risk Management : Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate potential disruptions in the supply chain.
This includes contingency planning for supply chain interruptions and proactive management of supplier risks.
- Compliance and Sustainability : Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, including environmental and sustainability requirements, specific to the automotive industry.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration : Work closely with other departments such as Engineering, Production, Quality, and Sales to ensure alignment of supply chain activities with overall business goals.
Collaborate with global teams to ensure consistency and best practices.
Budgeting and Cost Control : Develop and manage the supply chain budget, ensuring cost control and financial performance in line with company targets.
Analyze and report on key supply chain metrics.
Technology and Innovation : Drive the adoption of supply chain technologies and innovations that improve visibility, efficiency, and competitiveness.
Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies in automotive supply chains.
Qualifications :
- Education : Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree or MBA is preferred.
- Experience : Minimum of 10 years of experience in supply chain management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the automotive industry.
Experience in a Tier One supplier environment is highly desirable.
- Skills :
- Strong understanding of supply chain processes specific to the automotive industry.
- Proven track record of leading and developing high-performing teams.
- Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills.
- Proficiency in supply chain management software (e.g., SAP, ERP systems).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage complex projects and drive change in a fast-paced environment.
- Fluent in both German and English, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Certifications : Professional certifications such as APICS (CPIM, CSCP) or Six Sigma Black Belt are a plus.
