What you will do

• You will concentrate on system design and analysis, waveform design and algorithm development, as well as simulation verification in the 5G / 6G environment.
• To this end, you will use C / C++ to implement and test signal processing on the open source platform OpenAirInterface 5G , primarily on the physical and medium access control (MAC) layers.
• Last but not least, you will analyze the latest 5G / 6G technologies released by 3GPP by utilizing the developed real-time capable prototypes as well as powerful lab equipment (e.

g., channel emulators, over-the-air technology, or live satellites).

What you bring to the table

• A scientific university degree in communications engineering or a comparable degree program
• Good knowledge of 4G and 5G mobile radio systems, preferably also in 3GPP 5G NR or LTE.
• Expertise in communication systems (physical layer or MAC layer), C programming (preferably also C++), Linux, embedded software development, version control systems (Git, Apache Subversion), and laboratory / field tests.
• Ideally, a basic understanding of the OpenAirInterface, software architecture, and MATLAB for communication systems, as well as experience using scripting languages.

Strong verbal and written communication skills (German and English).

The position is initially limited to 2 years with the aim for subsequent extension. The weekly working time is 39 hours .

The position can also be filled on a part-time basis, but preferably as close to a full-time position as possible.
