Our client, a leading provider of AV conferencing solutions, is looking for an Audio Visual Design Engineer / Project Engineer to join their post-sales design team.
The role will support the company's continued growth in this area, with the aim not only to gain the best reputation for service, but also to deliver market-leading innovation.
The Project Engineer is responsible for providing engineering planning and support throughout the duration of a project after the equipment and scope of work have been handed over by the pre-sales team.
They work with the Project Manager to create system plans that meet the requirements specified in the scope of work.
The team is very collaborative and due to the size of the company, this role is focused solely on the design aspect as the team already has pre-sales, installation and commissioning engineers in place.
This allows for very rapid progression in a team that supports training and offers clear progression opportunities to a Solution Architect role as well as other areas (average length of stay in the team is over 5 years).
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Check that the specified equipment is suitable for the installation.
- Create system plans including audio, video, control and power.
- Technical inquiries and advice.
- Communicating on-site requirements such as IT and FM dependencies. Coordinating the creation of M&E drawings with the CAD team.
- Development of rack layouts.
- Creating designs for metalwork such as entry plates and wall boxes.
- Collaborate with project managers and clients to ensure all specified requirements are met.
- Communicate required system functions to the control system programmer. Work with third party contractors / subcontractors to ensure seamless integration.
- Facilitate system rack testing to ensure compliance and identify and correct any defects prior to shipment.
- Technical support throughout the entire project.
Required skills
- Fluent German and English.
- Strong technical knowledge of audio and video conferencing equipment from all major brands.
- Up to date with the latest AV industry news, including products and trends.
- Good understanding of IT and networks.
- Strong understanding of audio.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Good understanding of Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
- CAD / Visio experience would be helpful but is not essential as the team has three dedicated CAD technicians to support the project engineers and training can be provided.
