The opportunity

At GEMESYS, we’re building next-generation edge AI hardware designed to learn directly on the device. As a Senior Analog-/Mixed-Signal Design Engineer, you’ll own critical parts of the IC design stack and work directly with the founding team to take this technology from lab to product. Your designs will sit at the intersection of AI, hardware, and systems engineering, solving real customer challenges across industries like industrial AI, healthcare, energy, robotics, and space.

This is not an incremental improvement on existing product lines. It’s a fundamentally new architecture, and your circuit designs will define what it can do.

Your role

This role covers the full IC design stack, from concept to successful silicon implementation, including top-level integration, post-layout verification, and final design sign-off. Experience with PCB design, system integration, and chip testing is a strong plus.

• Design, simulate, and validate analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits, including opamps, low-power and low-leakage circuits, ADCs, DACs, logic, and memory blocks.
• Lead and participate in all stages of the IC design process, including:
  • Schematic design and simulation
  • Layout and parasitic extraction
  • Design and performance verification (post-layout simulations)
  • Top-level integration and sign-off
• Drive the circuit design with an emphasis on low-power performance, low-leakage, and noise robustness.
• Ensure proper physical design implementation.
• Hands-on board-level design, integration, and testing.
• Debug silicon prototypes in the lab, working on performance optimization and issue resolution.
• Work closely with other teams to ensure that designs meet the system-level requirements.
• Own technical documentation for design, testing, and verification processes.

What you bring

You are an innovative IC Design Engineer with a deep understanding of advanced analog design theory and a strong background in analog/mixed-signal circuit design, built around low-power and low-leakage circuits.

Essential:

• Master’s (or PhD) degree in Engineering Sciences or a related field with a focus on integrated circuit design (analog-/mixed-signal).
• 5+ years of experience in analog-/mixed-signal IC design.
• Proven track record with 3+ successful tape-outs involving complex IC design flows (65nm or below).
• Strong expertise in designing opamps, low-power, and low-leakage circuits.
• Experience with industry-standard design tools (preferably Cadence Virtuoso).
• Proficiency in parasitic extraction, post-layout simulation, and verification methodologies (MC, corner).
• Understanding of device physics and fabrication processes to optimize design performance.
• Comfortable working and communicating in English. German is a strong plus.
• Comfortable presenting design trade-offs to non-hardware team members and working across disciplines.
• Willingness to take full ownership in a fast-moving deep-tech startup where your decisions directly shape the product.

• Familiarity with advanced CMOS process nodes (e.g., 22nm).
• Experience with PCB design (e.g., Altium Designer) and debugging of analog-/mixed-signal circuits.
• Experience with data converters (ADCs/DACs), filters, logic, and memory blocks, as well as other mixed-signal blocks and methods.
• Interest in or experience with neuromorphic, in-memory, or other non-Von Neumann computing architectures.
