Amazon's Reliability, Maintenance, and Engineering organization (RME) is hiring a Technical Infrastructure Program Manager focused on HVAC Design and Commissioning (BMS) and its related equipment and components including Building Management Systems (BMS) systems.

This individual will initiate and manage multiple programs and projects using effective time management skills and personal impact to drive complex activities across the organization.

The Technical Infrastructure Program Manager supports all Amazon fulfillment business units and site types. This role will drive continuous improvement of HVAC systems and actively participate in the design and implementation of Improvement Strategies.

The goal is to increase efficiency, uptime, and provide support to operational areas with an emphasis on short- and long-term reliability improvements.

This role requires a dynamic individual who can independently manage complex technical programs, lead cross-functional teams, and drive our commitment to sustainability and operational excellence.

The candidate will lead with influence and work with internal teams as well as external suppliers, vendors, and consultants including utilities, manufacturers and contractors to align priorities and ensure the delivery of key milestones.

The successful candidate will be a subject matter expert in their field, and possess a HVAC design and commissioning background, coupled with an understanding of project / construction management.

This position will require proficiency in the principles of airflow distribution, a deep knowledge of HVAC sequence of operations strategies and an understanding of building codes and standards across multiple geographies.

This person will be able to undertake the challenges of sophisticated equipment platforms and demonstrate their ability to think broadly and strategically in aligning building equipment with the larger objectives of the business.

Key job responsibilities

• tDevelop, execute, and manage programs focused on the implementation of sustainable HVAC and mechanical system solutions across different business units.
• tWork independently to successfully deliver program goals, seeking guidance as needed and making connections to the right people or technologies as required.
• tOversee the delivery of capital projects related to the BMS, from scoping and design to construction and commissioning.
• tCollaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders, including technology providers, customers, partners, and vendors, to deliver complex / cross-functional projects.
• tIdentify and drive improvements in HVAC and mechanical systems to increase energy efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and enhance performance.
• tProvide technical leadership on HVAC and mechanical system design, installation, operation, and maintenance.
• tLead cross-functional teams, manage resources, and maintain project schedules and budgets.
• tDevelop and implement training programs to increase team knowledge and competence.
• tMonitor, evaluate, and report on the performance and efficiency of HVAC systems
• tStay up to date with the latest sustainable technologies and industry trends and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
• tReview engineering designs & drawings, construction and commissioning documentation and perform system inspections for construction quality, safety and regulatory compliance.
• tDevelop, implement, and support preventative and predictive maintenance strategies for new and existing equipment.
• tParticipate in / lead Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) to identify root causes of complex and / or repetitive problems and put in place executable corrective actions.
• tProvide support for hazard evaluations and risk assessments to comply with applicable OSHA, EPA, and International Building Code requirements or methodologies.
• tProvide leadership to drive continuous improvement with assets and site reliability.
• tAnalyze operational data, KPIs, OEE, etc. to identify gaps and areas of potential improvement.
• tActively participate in design and implementation of Asset Improvement Strategies for systems to improve production and uptime.
• tLead discussions to handle concerns and Requests for Information (RFIs). This will require technical knowledge, resourcefulness to navigate through internal and external resources, and a focus on customer satisfaction.
• tTravel up to 75%

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• tBachelor's Degree in an engineering or relevant technical discipline.
• tOperations and reliability maintenance experience in manufacturing, industrial warehouse or commercial building environment.
• tExperience in managing multiple programs / projects, using effective time management skills and personal impact to drive complex activities across the organization.
• tA minimum of 5 years' experience in HVAC design, construction, or maintenance.
• tExperience in design and operation of mechanical systems, including Roof Top Units, CRAC systems, HVLS and exhaust fans and other air quality and comfort control equipment.
• tUnderstanding of psychometrics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid dynamic processes and their relation to HVAC related applications.
• tFamiliarity with building and or process heating / cooling load calculations to derive HVAC equipment specifications.
• tExperience testing / troubleshooting using a range of devices, to identify and report out on base building systems.
• tAbility to understand technical air balance (TAB) reports and recommend changes to equipment settings.
• tFamiliarity with safety standards and regulatory requirements including international building code (IBC), National Electric Code (NEC), ASME, NFPA and ASHRAE standards.
• tExperience preferably in a supervisory or project management role in the installation of utilities and infrastructure in new construction and existing building.
• tStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• tProfessional Engineering (PE) License, Certified Energy Manager (CEM), or LEED accreditation is highly desirable.
• tSix Sigma / Project Management certification (PMP or equivalent).
• tProven ability to analyze and troubleshoot electrical control wiring and related BMS instrumentation.
• tHigh capability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, frequent changes in priorities, and changes in the business environment.
• tEffective interpersonal and communication skills to successfully integrate and align a multi-discipline team in delivery of projects.
• tAble to problem solve and troubleshoot as the need arises with a hands-on approach.
• tExperience using HVAC monitoring software, such as Niagara BMS for troubleshooting.
